Manual Ram Operation Mode
The compactor can be placed into a manual mode allowing the operator to drive the ram forward and back. The ram will remain where it is positioned until the system is returned to automatic control at which time it will be driven home. To prevent the operator from accidentally leaving the system in manual, the control incorporates an automatic “Return to Auto Control” feature. If the control is left into a manual mode for more than 15 minutes, the system will return to automatic control.
Automatic System Pressure Display
Limit and pressure switches have been eliminated. The display now shows the system pressure whenever the ram is moving. Each time the ram is energized the display pressure is set to zero at the start of a movement. Each time the system reads a higher pressure the display is updated with that value. Thus the display shows the peak pressure during the previous move. The pressure display is updated in both a Manual and Automatic Cycle.
Warnings and Alarms Display
The system includes 4 warning messages and 4 shutdown alarms which are displayed on the basement display. Output for a remote alarm light is provided. This output can be used to initiate a dialer or it can inhibit chute doors from opening when used with a door electrical interlock system. When the dialer or shutdown feature is required, an additional relay must be added to the system.
“Check Photo-Eye” Warning
A new warning has been added to the system: “Check Photo-Eye”. If the compactor has run continually for more than an hour, it is possible that the photo eye or reflector is dirty or out of alignment. This warning will not stop the compaction.
Quick Edit of Programmed Settings
In previous versions of software, if there were multiple setpoints on a menu page, each setpoint had to be accepted before the operator could exit that page. A major change in software now allows the operator to quickly move through all of the selectable valves until the desired setpoint it found. To change a value, move to the page that presents that value. Press the ENTER key. Input the new value. Hit the ENTER key a second time. If the operator needs to change the same value a second time, simply touch the ENTER key again to repeat the procedure. Unlike earlier versions, it is not necessary to go off and come back on to the display.
Improved PLC Menu Navigation
The program provides consistency in the manner by which the operator moves from screen to screen. The Down Arrow will take the operator to the next display. The Up Arrow will take him to the previous display. The Enter key will take him to the start-up screen.
Chute Cleaning System Control
Model 10 incorporates an optional wash feature which allows the operator to control a chute cleaning system. Unlike earlier versions, the control allows the operator to select the duration of a pre-soak cycle, soap cycle and a final rinse. The operator can program the days of the week that the chute is to be cleaned. For example, the user can program a 10-second pre-wash, a 15-second soap cycle, a 20-second final rinse, starting at 1:00 in the morning, on Monday Wednesday and Saturday.
